Directions

Put chocolate in top of double boiler and set over simmering water until melted.
Stir in sugar and salt.
Add boiling water gradually, stirring constantly.
Stir in milk and cook over simmering water 5 minutes, stirring often.
Add vanilla and beat with rotary beater or wire whisk until frothy.
Pour into a pitcher and bring to table with mugs for serving.
Top each serving with a dab of whipped cream.
Note: If the day is very hot try icing the chocolate.
Cool and chill the hot mixture and serve it over crushed ice in tall glasses.
