Hot Wine Recipe
Ingredients
1 orange
20 cloves
4 small (1/2 inch) cinnamon sticks
2 bottles dry red wine
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup brandy (optional)
Directions
Wash the orange and spike it with the cloves and cinnamon sticks.
Place it in a saucepan just large enough for all the ingredients.
It must have a tight fitting lid.
Add the wine and heat over very low heat for at least 2 hours.
At no time should the wine be allowed to boil.
If necessary, place the pan on an asbestos pad over the burner to prevent boiling.
Before serving, remove the orange and stir in the sugar and optional brandy.
