Hot And Spicy Ham Steak Recipe
Ingredients
| Vegetable oil | 1 Tablespoon | |
| 1 pound fully cooked ham steak, about 1/2 inch thick | ||
| 1/8 cup water or pineapple or orange juice | ||
| Ketchup | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| 2 tablespoons light brown or granulated sugar | ||
| Cider vinegar | 1/4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| 1 tablespoon prepared spicy brown mustard | ||
| Worcestershire sauce | 1 Tablespoon | |
| Crushed red pepper | 1/4 Teaspoon, dried | |
Directions
1. Heat the oil in a heavy 12-inch skillet over moderately high heat for about 1 minute. Add the ham steak and cook, uncovered, for 3 minutes on each side, or until browned.
2. In a small bowl, combine the water, ketchup, sugar, vinegar, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce, and the dried red pepper if used. Add the mixture to the skillet and simmer, uncovered, for 10 minutes. Serve with Glorious Mashed Potatoes.
