Ingredients

 
2 cups dried prunes
 
1 cup dried apricot, Boiling water
 
1 cup seedless raisins
 
1 cup slivered blanched almonds
 
1 cup coarsely chopped walnuts
 
1 pound mixed candied fruit, diced
 
2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
 
1 cup butter or margarine
 
1 cup honey
 
â– 4 eggs
 
1 teaspoon salt
 
1 teaspoon baking powder
 
1 teaspoon cinnamon
 
1 teaspoon allspice
 
1/4 teaspoon cloves
 
1/4 teaspoon mace
 
1 recipe Honey-glazed. Fruit
 
2 tablespoons chopped nuts

Directions

Cover prunes and apricots with boiling water, and let stand 10 minutes.
Drain, and cool; remove pits, and chop finely.
Combine all dried fruits, nuts and candied fruit.
Dredge with 1/4 cup of flour.
Cream butter, and add honey, then eggs, 1 at a time, beating.well after each addition.

Sift together remaining flour, salt, baking powder and spices.
Add to creamed ingredients, and blend well.
Pour batter over fruit-nut mixture, and combine thoroughly but lightly.
Turn mixture into 9-inch tube pan lined with 2 thicknesses of greased brown paper and 1 of greased waxed paper.
Set pan in shallow container of hot water, place on bottom rack in very slow oven (about 250°F.) and bake 3 1/2-4 hours or until a cake tester inserted in center comes out clean.When cake has almost cooled, decorate top with Honey-glazed Fruit and sprinkle of chopped nuts.
