Ingredients

 
2 Spanish onions
 
4 whole cloves
 
1 T honey
 
1 t sesame salt
 
Dash nutmeg, cayenne
 
2 T corn germ oil
 
3 T toasted almonds, slivered

Directions

Place peeled and halved onions in 2 inches of boiling salted water.
Bring to boil again, then cover and simmer for 20 minutes or until almost tender.
Drain water off onions.
Place a whole clove in each onion half.
Put onions in a casserole.
Mix together the honey, salt, nutmeg, cayenne, and corn germ oil and pour over onions.
Cover casserole and bake in a 300° oven for 45 minutes, occasionally using the glaze from the bottom of the casserole for basting.
Sprinkle with almonds at serving time.
