Homemade Bread Sticks Recipe
Ingredients
| Active dry yeast | 1⁄4 Ounce (1 Package) | |
| Warm water | 2⁄3 Cup (10.67 tbs) | |
| Salt | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Raw sugar | 1 Tablespoon | |
| Vegetable margarine | 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs), softened | |
| Unbleached white flour | 2 Cup (32 tbs) | |
| Egg | 1 | |
| Water | 1 Tablespoon | |
| Sesame seeds | To Taste | |
| Poppy seeds | To Taste | |
| Celery seeds | To Taste | |
| Cornmeal | To Taste | |
| Coarse sea salt | To Taste |
Directions
In a mixing bowl dissolve yeast in warm water.
Add salt, sugar, margarine, and 1 cup flour.
Beat well until smooth.
Gradually add remaining cup of flour, and knead dough on a floured board until smooth.
Put into a bowl, cover, and let dough rise for 1 hour until it doubles in size Divide dough in half.
Cut each half into 24 pieces.
Roll out each piece of dough into a 6 inch pencil-slim stick.
Place sticks on a greased baking sheet 1 inch apart.
Brush with egg beaten with 1 Tbsp water.
Sprinkle sticks with a mixture of sesame seeds, poppy seeds, celery seeds, and cornmeal or cokrse sea salt.
