Directions

1. Cut apples into quarters, but do not peel or remove core and seeds. In 3-quart saucepan over high heat, heat apples and water to boiling. Reduce heat to low; cover and simmer 10 to 12 minutes, until apples are very tender. Stir in sugar and lemon juice.
2. Into large bowl, press apple mixture through strainer or food mill to remove skin and seeds. Add more sugar if needed. (If red skinned apples are used, applesauce will be pink.) Cover and refrigerate.
