Holiday Apple Strudel Recipe

Ingredients
2 cups canned apple sauce
1/2cup light brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2cup seedless raisins
1 cup chopped walnuts
1 1/2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 egg, slightly beaten
1/3 cup warm water
3/4 cup melted butter
Directions
Combine apple sauce, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, raisins and walnuts.
Mix well.
Mix together flour, salt, egg and water.
Mix to dough with fork.
Knead dough on board stretching and pulling dough to make it elastic.
Knead until dough no longer sticks to board.
Place ball of dough on floured board and cover with hot bowl.
Let stand 40 to 50 minutes.
Flour a board or table surface 18" x 24".
Roll dough in an oblong piece; spread with1/4 cup melted butter.
Carefully stretch dough all around to measure 18" x 24", at this point the dough should be very thin.
Cut off torn and rough edges.
Spread dough with another 1/4 cup melted butter.
Spread apple sauce filling over dough.
Roll up jelly-roll fashion beginning at the long side.
Place on a greased baking sheet, shaping roll into a ring.
Brush with re- maining 1/4 cup butter, several times during baking.
Bake in hot oven, 400°F., 1/2 hour, reduce heat to 350°F., and bake 15 minutes longer, or until brown and crisp.
Cool and decorate according to the occasion.
