Holiday Fruit Cookies Recipe
Ingredients
| Shortening | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Eggs | 2 | |
| Flour | 3 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Salt | 1 Tablespoon | |
| Cherries | 2 Cup (16 tbs), candied | |
| 2 c. brown sugar, packed | ||
| 1/2 c. buttermilk or sour milk | ||
| Soda | 1 Tablespoon | |
| Pecans | 1 1/2 Cup (16 tbs), broken | |
| Dates | 2 Cup (16 tbs), chopped | |
Directions
Mix shortening and sugar; add eggs.
Stir in buttermilk or sour milk; add dry ingredients which have been sifted together.
Add nuts and fruit.
Chill 1 hour.
Drop small spoonsful 2" apart on greased cookie sheet.
Place pecan half on top of each.
Bake 8 to 10 minutes in 400° oven.
Makes 7 dozen.
