Directions

Roll out slightly less than half the pastry and line a 9-inch pie plate.
Mix sugar, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg and flour in a bowl.
Peel, core and slice apples; toss with sugar mixture.
Arrange apple slices in the pie plate and dot with butter.
Roll out remaining pastry into 11 inch circle and place on top of filling.
Take the edges of upper and under pastry between your fingers and turn both edges under; flute to seal.
Cut a few slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
Place on the lowest shelf of a preheated 400° oven and bake 40 to 45 minutes or until crust is browned and apples are tender.
