Ingredients

 2 6 ounce cans herring fillets
 1 medium onion, sliced with the slicing disk
 Whole black peppercorns24 To taste
 Bay leaves2 , crushed
 Sour cream1 Cup (16 tbs)
 3 tablespoons sauterne

Directions

Cut fillets into bite-size pieces.
Combine in a bowl with onion, pepper, and bay leaves.
Mix sour cream and wine and stir into fillet mixture.
Cover and refrigerate for 4 to 8 hours before serving.
Keeps for 1 or 2 days.
