Herring Salad German Recipe
Ingredients
| Herring | 4 Cup (16 tbs), chopped | |
| 2 cups chopped cooked veal | ||
| 2 hard-cooked eggs | ||
| 1 1/2 cups pickled Deets | ||
| Onions | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs), chopped | |
| Pickles | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs), chopped | |
| 2 stalks of chopped celery | ||
| Boiled potatoes | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Apples | 3 Cup (16 tbs), diced | |
| Blanched almonds | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Sugar | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Vinegar | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Horseradish | 2 Tablespoon, mixed | |
| Parsley | ||
Directions
1. Mix all ingredients except sugar, vinegar and horseradish.
2. Heat the vinegar and sugar in an enamel or glass saucepan until the sugar dissolves. Add the horseradish. Mix and pour over the salad.
3. Shape into an oblong loaf on a large platter. Chill 30 minutes or longer.
4. Garnish with parsley.
