Herring and Beet Salad Recipe
Ingredients
| 10 pickled herring fillets | ||
| 4 sweet dill pickles | ||
| Onions | 2 | |
| Apples | 2 | |
| 1 egg, hard-cooked | ||
| Cooked ham | 1 Cup (16 tbs), chopped | |
| 2/3 cup chopped cooked beets | ||
| Mayonnaise | 1 Tablespoon | |
| Half and Half | 3 Tablespoon | |
| Pepper white | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Sugar | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Hard-cooked egg slices | ||
| Tomato wedges | ||
Directions
Chop the herring fillets.
Dice the pickles.
Peel and chop the onions.
Peel, core and chop the apples.
Chop the hard-cooked egg.
Mix together all these ingredients with the ham and beets and place in a salad bowl.
Mix the mayonnaise, cream, pepper and sugar together and fold into the salad.
Leave to chill for 1 hour.
Serve garnished with slices of hard-cooked egg and tomato wedges.
