Hermits Cookie Recipe

Ingredients
1 cup shortening
2 cups brown sugar
1 cup milk
2 eggs, beaten
4 1/2 cups cake flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon allspice
1 cup chopped nuts
1 cup raisins
Directions
Cream shortening and sifted sugar together.
Add milk to beaten eggs.
Sift all dry ingredients together and add to the shortening mixture alternately with liquid ingredients.
Add nuts and raisins.
Mix well and drop by teaspoons onto a greased cookie sheet.
Bake at 350°F. 15 minutes.
Makes 116 cookies 1 1/2 inch diameter.
