Raisin and Walnut Hermits Recipe

| Brown sugar | 1 1/2 Cup (16 tbs), firmly packed | |

| Cake flour | 2 1/2 Cup (16 tbs), sifted | |
| Baking soda | 3/4 Teaspoon | |
| Cinnamon | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Nutmeg | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Salt | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Seedless raisins | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Walnuts | 1 Cup (16 tbs), chopped | |
Directions
Work the shortening with a spoon until fluffy and creamy; add sugar while continuing to work with a spoon until light.
Then add the well-beaten eggs.
Sift 2 c of the flour with the soda, spices, and salt, and add to mixture.
Add raisins and nuts mixed with remaining 1/2 c flour.
Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased or oiled cookie sheets about 2" apart.
Bake in a moderately hot oven of 375°F for 15 min.
