Herbed Cheese Bread Recipe
Ingredients
| Unsalted butter | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Garlic | 1 Clove (5gm), minced | |
| 1 1/2 tablespoons fresh basil or 1 1/2 teaspoons dried leaves, crumbled | ||
| Dried oregano | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Dried marjoram | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| Ground pepper | 1 To taste | |
| 1 large loaf Italian or French bread, split in half lengthwise | ||
| 3 ounces Swiss or Gruyere cheese, shredded | ||
| Parmesan cheese | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs), grated | |
| Salt | To Taste | |
Directions
Combine butter, garlic, herbs, salt and pepper to taste in small saucepan and heat until butter is melted.
Pour over cut sides of bread, then sprinkle with cheeses.
Wrap in foil.
About 20 minutes before ready to serve, place bread in oven and turn temperature to 375°F.
Heat until bread is hot and crusty about 20 minutes (if necessary, open foil to allow bread to crisp).
Slice diagonally and pass in napkin-lined basket.
