Hearty Sausage Sandwich Recipe
Ingredients
| Bulk italian sausage | 1 pound | |
| Onion | 1 Medium, chopped | |
| Green pepper | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs), chopped | |
| Garlic | 1 Clove (5gm), minced | |
| Cream cheese | 1 , cubed | |
| Mushrooms | 1/4 Cup (16 tbs), chopped | |
| Parmesan cheese | 1/4 Cup (16 tbs), grated | |
| Water | 1/4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Dried oregano | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| 1 loaf unsliced Italian bread | ||
| Mozzarella cheese | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
Directions
In a large skillet, cook sausage, onion, pepper and garlic over medium heat until the meat is no longer pink; drain.
Add cream cheese, mushrooms, Parmesan, water and oregano.
Cook and stir until cheese is melted.
Cut bread in half horizontally; hollow out the top and bottom, leaving a 3/4-in.shell (save removed bread for another use).
Place the bread bottom on a baking sheet.
Sprinkle with half of the mozzarella cheese; top with sausage mixture and remaining cheese.
Replace the bread top.
Bake at 3750 for 15 minutes or until cheese is melted.
