Ingredients

 1 cup bran flakes
 Dates1 1/2 Cup(16 tbs), chopped
 Boiling water1 1/2 Cup(16 tbs)
 All purpose flour1/2 Cup(16 tbs)
 Whole wheat flour1/2 Cup(16 tbs)
 Baking soda1/2 Teaspoon
 Baking powder1 Teaspoon
 Salt1/2 Teaspoon
 Egg1
 Molasses1/4 Cup(16 tbs)

Directions

Preheat oven to 300 °F (150°C).
Butter a loaf pan.
Set aside.
In a bowl, pour bran flakes, dates and boiling water.
Let stand 30 minutes.
In a second bowl, sift remaining dry ingredients.
Set aside.
In a third bowl, beat egg.
Add molasses.
Beat until mixture thickens.
Gradually fold in dry ingredients, alternating with bran and date mixture.
Pour into pan.
Bake in oven 50-60 minutes.
Remove from oven.
Let cool slightly.
Unmold.
