Canned Harvard Beets Recipe

2 16-ounce cans or jars sliced beets
1/3 cup vinegar
1/4 cup sugar
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon butter or margarine
Directions
1. Drain beets, reserving 1/2 cup beet liquid.
2. In 2-quart saucepan, mix vinegar, sugar, cornstarch, salt, and reserved liquid; add butter or margarine; over medium heat, cook, stirring, until mixture boils. Add beets; heat.
