Hariyali Dal Recipe
Hariyali daal is a an indian prepartion of lentils cooked in water with spices and vegetables. The hariyali daal is prepared with split red lentils, greens of choice, tomatoes, and flavored with fenugreek, cumn, turmeric, chilies and ginger.This is a special low sugar recipe great for diabetics as well as for people on low carb diet. Ingredients
1 cup masoor dal (split red lentils)
2 cups chopped greens (spinach, fenugreek, coriander)
1 chopped onion
1 teaspoon jeera (cumin seeds)
2 teaspoons amchur (dry mango powder)
1 chopped tomato
1/2 teaspoon haldi powder (turmeric)
3/4 teaspoon chilli powder
11/2 teaspoons oil
Salt to taste
To be ground into a paste
6 cloves garlic
4 to 6 green chillies
25 mm (1") piece ginger
Directions
Cook dal separately with 2 cups of water in a pressure cooker.
Heat oil in a non-stick pan, add onions and cumin seeds, and saute for at least 2 minutes.
Add the cooked dal, greens, amchur, tomato, turmeric powder, chilli powder, ground paste and salt, and cook for a few minutes.
Serve hot.
