Ingredients

 1 1/2 pounds tender young string beans; snap off ends
 1 small onion, chopped fine
 Butter3 Tablespoon
 Slivered almonds3 Tablespoon, toasted
 Salt To Taste
 Pepper To Taste

Directions

Cook beans in boiling salted water until al dente (cooked but still crisp).
Drain.
Dry on a cloth or absorbent paper.
Saute onion in 2 tablespoons butter until soft and slightly yellow.
Season with salt and pepper.
Add beans plus remaining butter.
Saute until butter begins to brown.
Add almonds and toss lightly.
