Ham In Walnuts Recipe

Ingredients

 
4 slices of uncooked ham or gammon, lard, soft bread,
 
4 tablespoon-fuls of meat gravy,
 
1 tablespoonful of white vermouth, or 3 table-spoonfuls of dry white wine.

Directions

In some lard, fry the 4 slices of gammon (1 minute each side), drain, and keep hot.
Add a little more lard to that in the pan, and fry in it till golden a handful of soft breadcrumbs together with the walnuts, rather coarsely chopped.
Moisten with the meat gravy mixed with white vermouth (madeira is better) or else with dry white wine.
Add a dash of pepper, and pour, very hot, over the slices of ham.
