1 tablespoon salad oil
6 country-ham slices, each 1/4 inch thick
2 cups water

1. Prepare enough hominy grits for 6 servings as label directs; keep warm.
2. Meanwhile, in 12-inch skillet over medium heat, in hot salad oil, cook 3 slices country ham at a time until browned on both sides; remove to platter. Add water to drippings in skillet; over medium heat, heat to boiling, stirring to loosen brown bits on bottom of skillet. Cook 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
