Halloween Date Cake Recipe
Ingredients
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1/2 t. salt
1 t. ground cinnamon
1/2 t. ground cloves
1 c. warm water
1 1/2 c. sifted flour
1 t. baking soda
1 c. chopped dates.
1/2 c. chopped walnuts
How to make Halloween Date Cake
Place first six ingredients in a saucepan in order listed.Mix well.
Slowly bring to a boil and boil 30 seconds.
Cool.
Measure and sift together flour and baking soda.
Stir into cooled spice liquid, beating well.
Fold in dates and nuts.
