Authentic Gyros are made with lamb, but beef is fine and not as expensive. The right spices are what's important. I think adding lettuce is fine too, if that's what you like! I top mine with lots of feta cheese and the special yogurt sauce. Delicious!

In Greece Gyro is made of a lamb which is threaded on to an upright skewer/rotisserie. The pork is a souvlaki.

Definetely is not ground beef it is shaved beef. Plus It is not beef either usually it is pork. Also there is not letuce. You can put only slices of tomatoe, slices of onions, potatoes fried, yogurt or tzatziki But at the same time there is one version with ground beef as above and you make small type of hamburgers in a long shape and you use it as alternative of shaved meat. Bon Apetite !!!!
