Grouse With Cornmeal Dumplings Recipe
Ingredients
| 4 grouse breasts | ||
| 1 oven cooking bag | ||
| Water | 2/3 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| 3 chicken bouillon cubes dissolved in 2 1/2 cups boiling water | ||
| 1/3 cup flour, blended with 1/2 cup water | ||
| Cornmeal | 1/3 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Baking powder | 1 Tablespoon | |
| Salt | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Dried sage | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Egg | 1 | |
| Milk | 1/3 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Flour | 1/3 Cup (16 tbs) | |
Directions
Place grouse and water in oven cooking bag.
Bake 350°F.2 hours.
Cool and cube meat.
Over medium heat, stir together bouillon and flour water mixture.
Cook until thickened.
Add grouse.
Stir together cornmeal, baking powder, salt, sage, egg, milk and flour.
Drop by tablespoonfuls into gently simmering sauce.
Cover and cook 15 to 20 minutes.
