Grissini Recipe
Ingredients
| Dry yeast | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Warm water | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Honey | 2 Teaspoon | |
| Whole wheat flour | 2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Seasoned salt | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Olive oil | 1 Tablespoon | |
| Beaten egg for glaze | ||
| Coarse salt, poppy seeds, caraway seeds, or sesame seeds | ||
Directions
In bowl combine yeast, warm water, and honey.
Let yeast dissolve for a few minutes.
Mix flour and salt.
Stir into the yeast mixture with the oil and enough water to form a firm dough.
Knead 5 to 10 minutes.
Cover bowl with a damp cloth and allow dough to rise in warm place for 1 hour.
Preheat oven to 450° F.
Roll the dough on a lightly floured board into a rectangle about 8 x18 inches and 1/4 inch thick.
Cut into 9 2-inch strips (8 inches long) and roll into sticks.
Place on a greased baking sheet, cover, and allow to stand for 30 minutes.
Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle with salt or seeds.
Bake in preheated oven for 10 to 15 minutes or until brown and crisp.
