Grilled Herrings In An Onion Sauce Recipe
Ingredients
| Herrings | 4 | |
| 2 tablespoonfuls of oil, | ||
| Parsley | 1 Tablespoon, chopped | |
| Shallots | 1 Tablespoon, chopped | |
| 1 clove of garlic, a spring onion or chive, | ||
| 1 large tomato, and plain boiled potatoes, to garnish. | ||
Directions
Clean the herrings, and take out the roes.
Mix these with oil, chopped parsley and shallots, crushed garlic, the spring onion or chive, peeled and chopped tomato and put them in a fireproof dish, add seasoning and cook on a gentle heat for 3 minutes, over an asbestos mat.
Grill the herrings.
Place them in the fireproof dish, baste them with some of the sauce and brown in a hot oven for a few minutes.
Serve with the boiled potatoes.
