Grilled German Brat Burgers Recipe
Ingredients
| 4 bratwurst links (12 ounces) | ||
| 1 1/2 cups coarsely chopped onion | ||
| Beer | 1 12 Ounce | |
| Shredded sharp Cheddar cheese | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| 4 frankfurter buns, buttered | ||
| 4 slices bacon, crisp-cooked, drained, and crumbled | ||
Directions
In 10-inch skillet brown the bratwurst over medium heat. (Electric skillet 300°.)
Add onion and beer; simmer, uncovered, for 20 to 30 minutes.
Remove links; slit each lengthwise.
Discard beer.
Fill with cheese; place in buns.
Place each in a foil 'boat,' leaving cheese side open.
Return to skillet; cover and heat (250°) till cheese melts, about 2 minutes.
Top with bacon.
