Sift flour and salt together into a mixing bowl.
Make a well in the centre and add the milk and beaten egg and stir just until smooth.
Pour batter from the tip of a large spoon on to a lightly greased hot griddle, heavy frying pan or hot plate of an electric cooker.
Cook until bubbles begin to form on the surface, then turn and brown on the other side.
