Green Pepper Steak Recipe
The green pepper steak is prepared with green bell pepper and flank steak. Cooked with a marinade of soy sauce and garlic , the green pepper steak is prepared with peppers onions and celery along with cornstarch for thick gravy and best served on hot rice with tomato wedges.
Ingredients
1/2 c. soy sauce
1 clove garlic, mashed
1 c. water
1 1/2 lb. flank steak, cut in thin slices
1/4 c. salad oil
2 med. green peppers, sliced
1 med. onion, sliced
5 stalks celery, cut diagonally
1 tbsp. cornstarch
Directions
Cut steak in thin slices.
Combine soy sauce, garlic and 1/2 cup water; marinate meat 15 minutes.
Drain; reserve liquid.
Heat oil and brown meat quickly; push aside.
Add peppers, onions and celery; cook 2 to 5 minutes or until vegetables are crisp.
Mix reserved liquid with cornstarch and remaining water; stir into meat and vegetables.
Cook, stirring constantly until mixture thickens.
Serve on hot rice with tomato wedges.
