Shredded green papaya often with carrots isd available at many Asian markets hre-usually those cattering to Vietnamese. Green Papaya is readily available here in California. Love Som Tom. When made with green mango it is called Yam Dtat Dtiaw. Instead of dried shrimp or salted crab as in Som Tom, you usually use dried squid. I love Thai Salads (Yams)! Shanti/Mary-Anne

I love Som Tum. It's hard for me to find green Papaya. If you use normal Papaya it turns into more of a salsa, ha ha but that is pretty good as well.
