Green Tomato Saute Recipe

6 green tomatoes
 
3/4 cup bread crumbs
 
1/2 cup brown sugar
 
8 tablespoons butter
 
Salt and fresh pepper to taste

Directions

Cut tomatoes in half.
Trim bottoms and tops.
Mix together the bread crumbs and brown sugar.
Coat the tomato slices on both sides with the bread crumb-sugar mixture.
Melt the butter in a large heavy skillet.
When hot, add tomatoes and cook slowly for 3 minutes on each side.
Season with salt and pepper.
Tomatoes should be cooked through, crisp on outside.
