Green Tomato And Apple Chutney Recipe
Ingredients
2 cups (500 ml) miniature green tomatoes, cut into 8 pieces
1/2 cup (125 ml) green apple, peeled, chopped
1/3 cup (80 ml) green onions, chopped
1/2 tsp (2 ml) celery salt
1 tsp (5 ml) hot pepper,chopped
1/2 cup (125 ml) brown sugar
1 cup (250 ml) cider vinegar
1/2 cup (125 ml) red tomato, diced
1/2 cup (125 ml) sweet red pepper, diced
2 tsp (10 ml) salt
1/2 tsp (2 ml) ground nutmeg
Directions
– Sprinkle green tomatoes with salt and drain in a colander for 12 hours. Rinse.
– In a large saucepan, bring all ingredients except nutmeg to a boil. Simmer for 40 minutes or until vinegar is completely reduced. Add nutmeg and cook a few minutes longer. Let mixture stand to cool, then pour into jars.
