Green Chili Burgers Recipe
Ingredients
3 green onions, including tops, sliced
1 teaspoon minced garlic
3/4 teaspoon dried marjoram, crumbled
1/4 teaspoon dried thyme, crumbled
1/8 teaspoon ground red pepper (cayenne)
1 can (4 ounces) chopped green chilies, drained
12 ounces lean ground beef
8 ounces ground turkey
1/2 cup Homemade Ketchup or prepared low-sodium ketchup (optional topping)
Directions
1 ln a 10-inch nonstick skillet, cook the green onions, garlic, marjoram, thyme, red pepper, and chilies over moderate heat for 5 minutes or until the onions are softened.
Transfer the mixture to a medium-size bowl and let cool to room temperature.
2 Add the ground beef and turkey to the chili mixture and mix well.
Using your hands, shape the mixture into 6 patties about 1/2 inch thick.
Wipe out the skillet and set it over moderate heat.
Add the patties and cook, turning once, for 6 to 8 minutes or until the juices run clear when the burgers are pierced with a fork.
Transfer the mixture to a medium-size bowl and let cool to room temperature.
