Green Beans Almondine Recipe
Ingredients
| 2 packages frozen cut or French-style green beans or 1 pound fresh, cut in 1-inch diagonals | ||
| Butter/Margarine | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Salt | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Sugar | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| Few lettuce leaves | ||
| Blanched almonds | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Lemon juice | 2 Tablespoon | |
| Pepper | 1 Dash | |
Directions
1.
Melt half of the butter in a good-sized skillet and add the beans, salt, and sugar.
Stir well and cover with a layer of lettuce leaves.
Cover tightly, bring to a quick boil, turn the heat very low, and cook about 10 minutes, or until just tender.
Or cook the beans in a minimum amount of salted water until tender but still crisp.
Drain.

Sizzle the remaining butter (or all of it if the beans are cooked in water), and brown the almonds quickly, stirring constantly.
Add the lemon juice, a grind of fresh pepper, and pour over the beans.
