Greek Style Sandwiches Recipe

Ingredients
1/2 Cup Dry Red Wine
2 Tbs. Olive or Cooking Oil
1 Small Clove Garlic (optional)
1/2 Tsp. Dried Oregano, crushed
1/2 Tsp. Salt
Dash of Freshly Ground Pepper
2 Lbs. Beef Sirloin Steak, cut 1/2" thick
1 Tbs. Butter or Margarine
4 Syrian or Pita Bread Envelopes
3 Cups Chopped Lettuce (14 Head)
1 Cup Diced, Seeded, Peeled Tomato H Large)
1 Cup Diced, Seeded, Peeled Cucumber
2 Cups Sour Cream with Chives
Directions
Combine wine, oil, garlic, oregano, salt and pepper.
Cut steak into bitesize pieces, 1/4" thick.
Pour marinade over beef and let it set 1 hour at room temperature.
Drain the meat.
Cook meat, half at a time in hot butter or margarine, stirring to brown on all sides, 2 to 3 minutes.
Serve meat in a chafing dish or a hot tray to keep warm.
May also be kept in a 200 degree oven, covered.
Open one end of Syrian bread to make a pocket, or cut bread in half and fill like a taco.
Set out dishes of lettuce, tomato, cucumber and sour cream dip.
Make your own sandwich.
Note: Steak is easier to cut if it is partially frozen.
