Gyro:
Lean ground lamb - 1 lb
Garlic cloves - 2, chopped
Dried oregano - 1 1/2 teaspoon
Minced onion - 1/2 teaspoon
Salt - 1 teaspoon
Pepper - 1 teaspoon
Crushed mint - 1 tablespoon
Tzatziki Sauce :
Cucumber - 1 medium, seeded and finely chopped
Plain yogurt - 8 oz
Garlic cloves - 2, chopped
Lemon - 1/2, freshly squeezed
Pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
Salt - 1 teaspoon
Dill - 2 tablespoon
Directions
GETTING READY
1) Preheat the broiler.
MAKING
2) In a large bowl, combine all the Gyro ingredients together, mix thoroughly
3) Shape the lamb mixture into two 1/2 inch thick patties.
4) Broil on "low" for about 8 to 10 minutes until done.
5) Then remove from the broiler and slice each patty into fine strips.
FINALIZING
6) In a bowl, combine all the Tzatziki Sauce ingredients for the sauce together, mix thoroughly.
SERVING
7) Serve immediately with shredded lettuce, tomato and onion.
