Ingredients

 Milk1/4 Cup (16 tbs), scalded
 Yeast package1
 Butter1/4 Pound
 Sugar3/4 Cup (16 tbs)
 Eggs3 , beaten
 Mashed potato1/2 Cup (16 tbs)
 Cinnamon sticks2
 Boiling water1 Cup (16 tbs)
 Baking powder1/4 Teaspoon
 Flour6 Cup (16 tbs)
 Egg yolk1 , beaten

Directions

Cool the milk to lukewarm.
Add the yeast and stir until dissolved.
Mix the butter and sugar well in a bowl.
Add the eggs and blend thoroughly.
Stir in the yeast mixture.
Add potato and mix thoroughly.
Add the cinnamon sticks to the boiling water in a saucepan and boil for 5 minutes.
Cool until lukewarm.
Remove the cinnamon sticks and stir liquid into the yeast mixture.
Add the baking powder and enough flour to make a stiff dough and mix well.
Knead on a floured surface until smooth.
Place in a greased large bowl and cover.
Let rise until doubled in bulk.
Divide into 3 parts and shape each part into a long roll.
Place close together on a greased baking sheet and braid.
Brush top with egg yolk and garnish with walnuts or sesame seed.
Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.
