Grapefruit Baked Alaska Recipe

Directions
1. Preheat oven to 500 degrees.
MAKING
2. Halve grapefruit and remove the cores. Cut around the cores so that the fruit is loose from the membrane and sprinkle with sugar. Set aside to chill.
3. Add salt to egg whites; beat until foamy. Add 6 tablespoons sugar and vanilla to the mixture while beating until stiff and glossy.
4. Place 1 heaping spoonful ice cream in center of each grapefruit half and cover with the meringue while sealing well around edges. Bake for about 1 minute or until lightly browned; serve at once.
SERVING
5. Serve immediately
