 1 cup warm water, 100F

 1/4 cup honey, molasses or brown sugar
 Salt2 1/2 Teaspoon
 5 to 5 1/2 cups unsifted all-purpose flour, approx.
 Whole wheat flour2 Cup (16 tbs)
 1 1/2 cups Crunchy Granola

Directions

Dissolve sugar and yeast in the warm water.
Pour scalded milk into a large beater bowl and add the next four ingredients.
Beat in 2 cups of the flour, then the dissolved yeast and beat well.
Add the whole wheat flour and beat just to mix.
Remove beaters and work in enough additional all-purpose flour to make a soft dough.
Knead until smooth, then knead in the granola and a little more all-purpose flour if necessary to form a stiff but slightly sticky dough.
Form into a flat ball and cut like a pie into 6 wedges.
Tuck the pointed end of each wedge under and roll back and forth on the board to form a rope, about 9 inches long.
Braid 3 ropes together and set on a small greased cooky sheet.
Repeat.
Cover with towels and let rise until doubled.
Dough may be shaped into 2 loaves and dropped into 2 oiled loaf pans.
Rising time, 1 to 1 1/4 hours.
Bake at 375F for 35 to 40 minutes.
