Grandma'S Kkath Recipe
Grandma's kath is a time worn recipe taken out of my granny's cookbook. Prepared with basil leaves, jaggery and bay leaves with ginger, this kath or soup like preparation is an excellent home remedy for soar throats, coughs, cold and flu.
Ingredients
2 bay leaves
15-20 black peppercorns
A small 1 inch piece of cinnamon
10-12 cloves
2 tbsp jaggery
10-12 basil leaves
1 tsp ginger, grated
Directions
In a saucepan, fill 1 litre water and add all the above ingredients.
Bring to a boil and simmer for a while.
When the liquid becomes almost half and the mixture has boiled fully, remove from fire.
Strain the liquor in a pot and use as a hot drink.
It has a very nice aromatic flavour.
Note: This very old recipe is a good remedy for cold and cough, flue and soar throat.
