Ingredients

3 tablespoons butter or margarine

2 cups milk

2 tablespoons sugar

1 teaspoon salt

2 1/4 teaspoons or 1 envelope dry yeast

4 to 5 cups flour

Directions

Melt the butter in a large bowl in the microwave.
Add the milk.
Heat the butter and milk until baby-bottle-temperature warm; you will never kill the yeast if you follow that rule.
Stir in the sugar, salt and yeast; stir until yeast is dissolved.
Stir in the flour, 1 cup at a time, until dough forms a ball.
Knead on a floured surface until smooth and elastic.
Place in a greased bowl, turning to coat the surface.
Let rise, covered, in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in bulk.
Punch the dough down.
Shape into 1-inch balls.
Place 3 balls in each of 18 greased muffin cups to make cloverleaf rolls.
Let rise for 30 minutes.
Bake at 350 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown.
Brush butter over the tops of the rolls when they are removed from oven.
