Granary Rolls Recipe
Ingredients
| Butter or lard- 1 oz | ||
| Strong flour | 4 Ounce | |
| Salt | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Granary meal- 8 oz | ||
| Fresh yeast- 1/2 oz OR Dried yeast- 2 teaspoon | ||
| Warm water | 8 Fluid Ounce | |
| Brown sugar | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Water | 1 , salted (As required) | |
Directions
GETTING READY
1. Start by preheating the oven to 425°F
MAKING
2. In a small pan, melt the butter and set aside to cool it 3. In a large bowl, scatter the flour and salt , take granary meal and stir it in the bowl, now make a hole in the center , cream the yeast with 3 quarters of warm water and the sugar, then pour mixture into the hole, add melted butter and mix to the dough, knead the dough once again, cover with foil polythene and set aside in a warm place, till size increases
4. On a floured surface, place the the dough and knead for 3-5 minutes, shape dough into 10 smooth rolls
5. On a baking tray, place the dough, cover with oiled polythene and set aside till the dough's size increases
6. On the dough, take salted water and brush the rolls, this makes the dough crisp crust, sprinkle cracked wheat if desired
7. Finally bake in the oven for about 15-20 minutes , once baked completely transfer rolls on wire rack to cool it
