Graham Torte Recipe

Ingredients
| Graham cracker crumbs | 1 2/3 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Walnuts | 1 Cup (16 tbs), chopped | |
| Cinnamon | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Salt | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Ginger | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Allspice | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| Baking powder | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Butter | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Sugar | 1/4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Eggs | 4 , separated | |
| Milk | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Heavy cream | 1 Pint | |
| Confectioner’s sugar | 3 Tablespoon | |
| Applesauce | 1 1/2 Cup (16 tbs), canned | |
| Shaved sweet chocolate | ||
| Maraschino cherries | ||
Directions
"Combine first 7 ingredients.
Cream butter in bowl.
Add sugar gradually; beat until light and fluffy.
Add egg yolks; mix thoroughly.
Add crumb mixture alter- nately with milk.
Beat egg whites until stiff but not dry; fold into sugar mixture.
Pour into 2 waxed paper-lined and greased 8-inch cake pans.
Bake in 325-degree oven for 30 to 35 minutes.
Cool; remove from pans.
Cool on wire racks.
Whip cream until stiff; fold in confectioners' sugar.
Split cake layers in half crosswise.
Spread applesauce between cut sides of each layer.
Arrange 1 filled layer on cake plate; spread with 3/4 of the whipped cream.
Top with remaining filled layer.
Place remaining whipped cream in pastry tube; pipe around edge and in center of cake.
Garnish with chocolate and cherries."
