2. Beat butter and sugar until fluffy in large bowl of mixer at high speed.
3. Beat egg yolks until thick in a second small bowl with mixer at high speed; beat into butter mixture until thick and light.
4. Sift flour and baking powder over butter mixture; stir in with a wire whip; fold in egg whites and vanilla until well blended; pour into a buttered 9x5x3-inch loaf pan.
5. Bake in slow oven (325°) 1 hour, 15 minutes, or until cake is firm to the touch. Cool in pan on wire rack 10 minutes; loosen around edges with a spatula; cool completely on wire rack. Sprinkle with 10X sugar before serving, if you wish.Suggested
