Gougere Recipe
Would you like to taste the best ever gougere? This french recipe of gougere is enjoyed the world over. It is generally consumed as a yummy side dish. Mark this gougere, or else you will later regret bookmarking this recipe.
Ingredients
2 cups milk
1/2 cup butter, cut up
2 teaspoons salt
Dash of ground pepper
2 cups sifted flour
8 eggs
6 ounces plus 4 tablespoons Gruyere cheese in fine cubes
Directions
Scald and cool milk.
Strain into a large saucepan, and add butter, salt and pepper.
Bring to a boil, and add flour all at once.
Cook on low heat, stirring until a ball forms.
Remove from hecrt.
Beat in eggs, 1 at a time.
When paste is shiny and smooth, add cheese.
With tablespoon form a ring of dough on a buttered cookie sheet.
Top with smaller balls made with a teaspoon.
Brush with milk, and sprinkle with 4 tablespoons diced cheese.
Bake at 375° for approximately 45 minutes or until puffed and golden
