Golden Spoon Bread Recipe
Golden spoon bread is made with chedar cheese and cornmeal and thus have a yellow color to them. Served frsh and hot from the oven, this golden spoon bread can be served as a side for a meal.
Ingredients
1/4 cup soft butter
1 cup milk
1 1/2 cups Cheddar cheese cubes
4 eggs, separated
1 1/2 cups boiling water
3/4 cup yellow corn meal
1/2 teaspoon salt
Directions
Heat oven to 325°.
Grease a 2 quart casserole.
Beat egg whites with rotary beater until stiff.
Set aside.
Put water, corn meal and salt into Osterizer container, cover and process at MIX until thick and smooth.
Remove feeder cap and add egg yolks, butter and milk.
Continue to process until well blended.
Stop Osterizer Blender and add cheese, cover and process at BLEND until cheese is chopped.
Pour over egg whites and fold together.
Pour into casserole and bake 60 to 70 minutes, or until a cake tester comes out clean.
Serve warm.
