Golden Refresher Recipe
Ingredients
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon whole cloves
Dash salt
1 piece (2-inch) cinnamon stick
3/4 cup lemon juice
2 cups orange juice
1 pint orange sherbet
3 bottles (10-oz size) carbonated lemon drink
or ginger ale, well chilled
Maraschino cherries with stems
Mint sprigs
Directions
In medium saucepan, combine sugar, 2 cups water, the cloves, and salt.
Bring to boiling, stir- ring to dissolve sugar; reduce heat, and simmer 10 minutes.
Add cinnamon stick; cool.
Combine lemon and orange juices with cooled syrup; mix well; refrigerate until very cold— several hours.
To serve: In each of four tall glasses, pour 1 cup juice; drop in 1 large spoonful of sherbet; fill glass with carbonated drink.
Stir; garnish with cherry and mint sprig.
