Ingredients

 Milk3 Cup (16 tbs)
 Eggs2 , Well beaten
 Butter3 Tablespoon
 2 cups stale, but soft bread cubes, packed
 Dates1/2 Cup (16 tbs), chopped
 1/4. tsp. nutmeg
 Cinnamon1/4 Teaspoon
 Brown sugar1/2 Cup (16 tbs), lightly packed
 Salt1/3 Teaspoon
 Vanilla1 Teaspoon

Directions

Scald milk and add remaining ingredients.
Pour into a well greased 1 1/2 quart casserole and dot with bits of butter and sprinkle with extra brown sugar and nutmeg.
Bake at 350F for about 1 hour.
